Week of March 12

Our class is coming upon a busy time. We have three tests over the next week:
- Wednesday is math on Units of Measurement. Students can use one note card filled in with notes for the test.
- Friday is science on Rocks. We will make the study guide on Wednesday.
- Next Monday is on SS chapter 7 Transportation and Communication. We will make the study guide on Thursday.
Also happening this week is winter sports rally - Wednesday @1. Reconciliation is on Thursday @10:15. We will be watching the movie The Witches to accompany the book we read as we study compare/contrast in writing.
Thank you to those who have already returned the report card envelops and confirmation sheets. They are due by Wednesday.

Week of February 27

This is the final week of trimester two, which means that the fourth graders are just about 2/3 of the way to 5th grade! This week we will be wrapping up some topics in math and social studies while continuing work on rocks in science. We will also start studying Lent in religion and writing persuasive essays in LA.

We will have a short test on Thursday in social studies on the 3 lessons from chapter 6. The class will make a study guide on Tuesday.
There will also be a short quiz on divisibility rules, prime/composite #s, and factor trees on Wednesday in math.

Winter Break

It is important for students to enjoy their winter break, but the time off is a great opportunity to work on their science fair project. As long as students have turned in their Topic Approval form to Mrs. V, they can be working on their project.

Week of January 23

Congratulations to all the students who successfully completed their poetry books! I know they were a lot of work, but hopefully you had fun doing it too! Our focus as far as projects go will move toward the science fair shortly.

This week we will be having a test on multiplication and long division. Also, on Friday, we will have a Social Studies test on Chapter 5. At the end of next week we will be having a test on electricity and magnetism in Science.

Open House is coming up this weekend. Please feel free to drop by the classroom after mass any time between 11 - 1 and bring a friend or 2 :)

New this Open House, our fantastic principal, Mr. Dolan, will speak about our outstanding school.  Then group tours will begin afterwards.  Please stop by to see our many clubs, activities, and wonderful school!  Speak with our terrific faculty and staff.

Wanted: People to Post our Postcard in the most Prominent place!

Saint Lawrence Elementary and Middle School will be holding our Open House on January 29, 2012.  Our goal is to attract as many attendees to our Open House as possible, but we need your help!  We need to get the word out about our Open House to a greater number of prospective enrollees by posting our Open House Postcard at a location where it may be seen by many who could be interested in our school. The postcard will be sent electronically to each family and an electronic postcard is available through School One.

Please post your postcards in places of prominence. Send us a description of where you posted the postcard and why posting it there is such a great location.  The Recruitment &Retention Committee (8 members) will gather all the details from everyone’s emailed descriptions.  The committee will decide which location is the most prominent, and if that is your location, you will win two free tickets to our Mardi Gras/ Auction, February 12.  (If you already purchased your tickets and win, you may choose a refund, raffle tickets, or invite 2 more guests to our Mardi Gras.)
